About Menara Taming Sari

Menara Taming Sari (Melaka Tower) is the first and only gyro tower in Malaysia so far.  It measures 110 meters in height, and revolves 360° to provide a panoramic view of Malacca town and beyond. It was commercially opened on the 18th of April of 2008.

The tower is built with advanced Swiss technology, and is said to have the ability of absorbing earthquakes measuring 10 richter scales.  The inspiration behind the 110 meter viewing tower was the legendary Taming Sari Keris.

Tips for Travelers

The Menara Taming Tower provides the opportunity for tourists to view the city of Melaka and beyond at a glance; you will see the whole city, the historical sites and other major buildings instantly!  You can witness sea activities from the imposing height of 80 meters.  You’ll board an air-conditioned viewing cabin, taken up with around 60 people, to stay up there for about seven minutes.

Once it reaches the top, a breathtaking, sprawling view of Malacca as far as the eye can see, up to the Straits of Malacca, is clearly visible, especially in good weather, with the Melaka River running through the grand panorama below.

Though the tower is surely the center of attention here, there is in additional opportunity to nose around and spend some good time at the 5 commercial outlets (consisting of a café, a restaurant and souvenir shops).

How should visitors get to Menara Taming Sari?

Menara Taming Sari lies in the centre of Banda Hilir, Melaka and it is easy to get to and from wherever you might be staying.

Preferably, you should travel by taxi if you are visiting Melaka for 2 or 3 days.  The taxi will cost you no more than RM 15.

If you have plenty of time then do look for a city bus.  You can get off near bus stop No. 7, which is the “Mahkota Parade Shopping Mall” bus stop; Menara Taming Sari is within walking distance from the Shopping Mall.

Approximate Touring Time

Though you can only spend 7 minutes at the top, there are other things around the tower that will surely attract your attention, including shopping malls, food courts & other attractions.

Visiting Hours

Menara Taming Sari opens at 10:00 am and continues till 10:00 pm, daily.

*On several occasions, including public holidays, the tower is open for visitors till 11 pm.
